AUGUST 2, 2006.
Last Sunday, I had another great day playing with the monks. I ended up staying there for 5 hours. It is so great to interact with the monks on a different level. Actually, this time I had some older monks showing an interest in Frisbee. In just a few more weeks I will be able to introduce the rules of ultimate. When this occurs I will have to divide the small and big monks, as the little ones need more care and a much slower pace if playing ultimate.
You would have laughed, because on Tuesday I taught my class how to properly wash their hands and brush their teeth. I bought enough toothbrushes for each of my 44 monks plus 10 tubes of toothpaste and 10 bars of soap.
I can only imagine what they were thinking when I was personally demonstrating how to brush my teeth and my tongue. I was foaming at the mouth and trying not to laugh and not to spray all my little monks with toothpaste.
I honestly think that 50% of my monks had never brushed their teeth before. When the monks were brushing their teeth some of the monks had lots of foaming toothpaste around their mouths, which was varying degrees of different colours.
After brushing their teeth each monk came to show me their freshly cleaned teeth and their tongue – it was truly priceless. I had a friend come and take photos as I would like to be able to share some of my photos with friends and hopefully have a personal website made.
