SEPTEMBER 24, 2006.

Well, I finally managed to pull myself out of the house this afternoon to go visit my favourite little monks at the Monastery where I teach English, even if it was raining. Instead of playing Frisbee, I packed a storybook to entertain the monks.  When I arrived at the monastery, very few monks were to be seen, although it does not take them along to realize that the chillip (foreigner in Bhutanese) has arrived on her bike.  With very few monks wondering around in the rain, I managed to find five monks from my class and a few older monks from the higher English classes to read the storybook to.  It was great to be able to entertain and teach such a small group of monks, a far cry from my class of 50 monks on Tuesdays and Fridays when I try to teach English for a hour.  With such a small group, I am able to gain a better understanding of which monks actually understand me when I ask them questions., which monks know their colours and numbers, etc.

I had a great time with them.  If I could get a fulltime job hanging out with the little monks, I would never leave Bhutan.

I am truly going to miss my little friends when I am out trekking.  I will have to take some pictures with a digital camera so I can put on a slide show for them when I return.  Someone in Thimphu must have a PowerPoint projector, which they would be willing to lend me for an hour.  It would be so much fun to see their little faces as very few have had a chance to travel.
